The Art Of Versions

Washington DC artists Neal Ashby and Matthew Curry collaborated
to create the beautiful artwork for the new Thievery Corporation Album “Versions”.

They collected hundreds of parts and pieces before they started the design process. With a black and white approach as their basis, they finally developed 25 covers (with and without color) for the presentation.

You can view a case study of this collaboration at The Art of Versions.

decollage.tv @ springsix – review (part 1)

It’s over and it’s done!

I don’t mean the spitze springsix festival here in cloudy Graz,
because there’s still a night left and we will shake our asses hard tonight..

..but our gig yesterday is now history and it was a great success!

Never before we had to struggle with
such a bandwidth of musical styles.

The names say everything:
Ghia (AT), Kraak & Smaak (NL), Ark vs. Krikor (F),
Princess Superstar (USA) and Silicone Soul (UK)
.

It was a pleasure to visually support those people -
and the crowd was sweating and screaming.

Everything illuminated! (or .. decollage.tv vs. the light technician)

DJ Ghia from Graz started the night with
a solid set from house to techno,
giving the party people a nice warmup.

Kraak & Smaak were supported by the
wonderful Rose with her incredible voice.
Funky breaks and latin flavor.

The real challenge for us was Ark vs. Krikor,
who shook our clothes with a mind blowing bass sound
at the beginning of their performance.

They played an extremly unpredictable live set
from techno beats (from minimal to maximum)
over electro madness to vibrant sound scapes.

But the overwhelming positive feedback of the people
on our visuals confirmed: challenge passed!

We should have such a video wall at home! Next to the big screen.

Princess Superstar then really drove the masses crazy.

Proper DJ performance with some surprises (Nirvana, Falco, ..) and
a sweeping stage presence. Singing, screaming, rocking!

Silicone Soul made a perfect musical handshake with the Princess and
continued with their solid, hard and housy set until 6 in the morning.

So thank you all for this awesome party,
the great music and the atmosphere.

It was an unforgettable experience -
even if we went to bed at 8 am!

livE (3vil) – Processing Makes The (Visual) World Go Round

A multimedia project by Ivan Ivanoff and Jose Jimenez – where the human body influences the motion of visual elements.

These elements are “… a series of virtual bacterias that walk freely until they detect a presence, towards which they desperately run in search of it’s flesh, to devour their pain and sins.”

Made with the open source programming language processing.
